Contract for the implementation of the southern finishing of the Torreira urban agglomeration, between the Municipality of Murtosa awarded to Manuel Francisco de Almeida, S.A., de Oliveira de Azeméis, represented by the Administrator Armando da Costa Almeida, for the amount of € 984,987.62.

The intervention, with an execution time of 365 days, involved a deep urban requalification in the southwest area of ​​Torreira, in an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters, through the closure of the urban network from the so-called “Sardina roundabout”, until the urbanization of Torreirinha and the “Bairro dos Pescadores”, rehabilitating the existing streets and creating a large parking pole south of Rua dos Navegantes, in the vicinity of “João da Calada”.

The southern finish allowed a more homogeneous distribution of the holidaymakers at Praia da Torreira, which were mostly concentrated in the northern area, extending the urban beach, in about 400 meters, to the spur, popularly known as “paredão”.

From the new parking pole, a wooden walkway structure was developed, which will serve as access to the bathing area, allowing the preservation of the adjacent dune area.

The work included the construction of sidewalks, bicycle paths, water supply networks, sanitation, electricity, telecommunications, gas and rainwater. New sanitary facilities to support the beach were also built.
