The renovation work of Rua Almirante Cândido dos Reis began this week, a new intervention by the Aveiro City Council (CMA) in the enhancement of public space, with the increase in the space dedicated to pedestrians, the reorganization of the parking lot and the reconfiguration of the street layout. , in addition to the requalification of the rainwater drainage network and the renovation of the public lighting infrastructure.
The work, awarded to Manuel Francisco de Almeida, S.A., represents a Municipal investment of € 409,444.11, and will start on the section between Rua de Viseu and Rua de Sá.
Located between the former CP Station and the headquarters of the GNR / Quartel de Sá, the intervention will take care to increase and improve the spaces for pedestrian circulation and the application of tactile pavements in road crossing areas, as an aid to the mobility of blind people.
Urban furniture will also be replaced, in coordination with the “Rua Verde” project of “Viva a Cidade”, in an operation involving citizens directly that will create areas for socializing, rest and interaction between residents and workers in commercial spaces adjacent areas, with the objective of creating areas of shared and mutual help.
Thus, the regular investment distributed throughout the municipality continues, duly planned and with financial sustainability, aiming at the conservation of the existing road infrastructures and making use of the community funds available in Portugal 2020, through the Strategic Plan for Urban Development of the City of Aveiro (PEDUCA ).
